Lottie WoadThe world’s highest ranking amateur entered a week, needing a high end at 25 at the top of the year to close a tour card through the LPGA amateur road (Leap). And after rounds of 68, 69 and 70 to open the week, it withdrew to the last round in the main position to end within 25 of the first.
After a few holes on Sunday, it became clear that Woad had its sights LOT higher.
“I knew starting the day when I was just like five away (supremacy), so I had to start fast,” Woad said. “Then it was really fun after that.”
Woad Zogu three of her first four holes to board the driver’s board early during the day, and she added another pair of circles to the score card before making the turn. Suddenly, it was not a question if the load would end the day with its LPGA Tour card, but more so if it were a big champion.
“I had a lot in line this week, and going today I knew what to do,” Woad said. “That kind of change after nine money with what I was going to.”
The 21-year-old added three nine back birds to her total, but a trick in 14 and par at the Para-5’s accessible finish eventually left her shot by play off Jeeno thitikul and eventual champion Kim. However, the last round of Woad 64 was the second lowest round of the day and catapulted it in a tie for the third, its best result in a major in her new career.
Completion T3 won Woad its necessary point for LPGA membership through the Leap program and makes it the first woman to win a tour card through the program. But after you have been so close to a big title, the feelings from the week are bitter.
“Definitely is definitely a little mixed,” Woad said. “I will think of a blow (at 18) for a while for a while, but I am very happy how I played today. Yes, great weeks.”
As for what is next, Woad said she does not know yet when she will become professional. The growing state of the state in Florida can receive its membership in the LPGA at any time for the remainder of the year, or it can push and receive status after its old season in Talhassee.
“(I am) I will simply use the next week at home with family and coaches to discuss the options and then decide after that,” she said. “I’ve always wanted to play in the LPGA. Whenever it will be really fun and just look forward to playing all the events.”
