Wedges are useful clubs for hitting high ball and soft landing, but often, keeping the low ball is the optimal game. When you hit a wedge in the 50-125 yard range, the ball flight is the correct game.

Lofting the top ball in the air may be the exact goal in certain situations, but keeping the ball down with wedge is something the best players of the world usually do. This reduces the amount that the wind can affect the shooting and makes the control distance much easier.

Look at any of the best wedge players in the world and you will see them set this technique. But how exactly can you repeat this blow? Golf teacher to see Parker McLachlin – AKA The Continuously Short game chef – explains in the video below.

How to hit a flying wedge

Hitting a high, great hook with your handcuffs is a great ability to have when you use stuck pins. But when you enter the greens from a closer distance, it is more careful to fly the ball down.

“All the best wedge players in the world hit their low wedges,” McLachlin says. “Especially from 50 to 125 (yards).”

An easy way to produce this flying trajectory is by changing your configuration just a little.

First, you want your weight to be on your lead side. However, instead of placing the ball in backward of your attitude, on the contrary place it in front of the center.

“It will allow me that beautiful angle, of falling attack,” McLachlin says. “It will allow me good ball contact and help me fly this low ball.”

Copy these configuration keys and you can hit a flying wedge in the greens as the best do.
