Liverpool are looking to start the New Year in style when they host Premier League rivals Manchester United on Sunday.
Reds fly high on top of the table and they will be looking to continue their outstanding form in 2025. Their first test comes at bitter foes Man Utd, who head to Anfield lacking confidence and mired in the bottom half.
Liverpool will be overwhelming favorites to get a nice win on Sunday and their short injury list only strengthens their hand.
Here are the ones that aren’t available Liverpool against Ruben Amorim’s side.
Liverpool would have enjoyed a perfect day away to West Ham United last weekend had it not been for an injury to Joe Gomez. The center limped off in the 37th minute of the match Victory 5-0 and was replaced by the young Jarell Quansah.
Unfortunately for the Reds, Gomez will be out for the foreseeable future after straining his hamstring, with Slot confirming he is guaranteed to be out for “a few weeks” at least.
“Joe, of course, is not in a good place with his injury. He will be out for a few weeks, that’s for sure,” admitted the Dutchman.
Ibrahima Konate has been a notable absentee in Liverpool’s defense recently after picking up a knee injury during the 2-0 win. Real Madrid at the end of November. He has been missing since then but could return this weekend against the Red Devils.
Slot confirmed that the centre-back returned to full team training on Friday ahead of the visit of Man Utd, but that does not necessarily guarantee him a place in the starting line-up or matchday squad. However, it is likely to be available somehow.
Conor Bradley has also been absent since the Champions League victory against Real Madrid, with the right back injured in the hamstrings against the reigning European champions. However, like Konate, Slot has revealed that Bradley could return on Sunday.
“Conor and Ibou will train with us today (Friday) for the first time,” Slot said in his pre-match press conference.
“So (I’m) curious and interested to see exactly where they are, of course. They’ve worked hard to get back into the team, but the next step is always, ‘How are you doing in the team sessions?’ Today they will train with us, both of them.
“We hope that everyone, except Joe Gomez, will be ready to be part of the game on Sunday.”
