Alex Bregman in the Park with 1 possible new team

The Detroit Tigers advanced to the postseason for the first time since 2014, finishing the regular season 86-76 and in second place in the American League Central.

After ending a run in the second half of the season to reach the playoffs, the Tigers defended their play by defeating the Houston Astros in the wild-card round.

The Tigers made some notable signings this offseason, including outfielder Gleyber Torres from the New York Yankees and starter Alex Cobb from the Cleveland Guardians.

The Tigers are also reportedly interested in free agent third baseman Alex Bregman from the Astros.

However, according to MLB Trade Rumors, Bregman and the Tigers are “at a standstill” over a potential deal.

The Astros reportedly offered Bregman a deal around $150 million, but he turned it down and is looking for a $200 million deal.

The Tigers don’t seem to want to hit that number, which could put their negotiations on hold.

Bregman spent all nine seasons of his MLB career with the Astros.

In 2024, he played in 145 games and batted .260 with 26 home runs, 75 RBI and a .768 OPS.

While the Tigers would likely benefit greatly from having a player like Bregman on their roster, they only seem willing to pay a certain amount.

Bregman is a name to watch as the 2025 season approaches.
