Australian legend Ricky Ponting pointed out that Jasprit Bumrah’s pace, accuracy and relentless attack made it difficult for Australia’s top-order team, which made them look out of their depth at times during the five-match Test series. With his exceptional performance, Bumrah once again proved why he is regarded as one of the most feared bowlers of the modern era.
Ricky Ponting was quoted by the ICC as saying, “Without a doubt, this is probably the best fast bowling series I have ever seen. Yes, they had good conditions, fast bowlers for most of this series. But when you look at his (Bumrah’s) bowl compared to anyone else in the series, he made the batting look very difficult. The Aussies have a lot of quality batsmen in that line-up too, but he has made fools of them all at different times.”

After Ricky Ponting Michael Vaughan also praised the bowler. Had Jasprit Bumrah bowled in the final innings, India might have had a chance to beat Australia in the fifth Test at the SCG and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, the former England captain said.
It might have been a different story if Bumrah was fit: Michael Vaughan
Michael Vaughan believes India could have won the SCG Test and drawn the Test series had Bumrah played in the second innings against Australia.
India’s bowling attack had already weakened, with Mohammed Shami unavailable for the tour and Bumrah left to shoulder much of the pace bowling burden. However, Bumrah suffered a back spasm and was unable to bowl in Australia’s second innings as Australia comfortably chased down the 162-run target in just 27 overs to secure a six-wicket win.
Michael Vaughan said on Fox Sports: “They really struggled to support this guy Bumrah. Clearly, he misses the second innings on a pitch that offers the Mariners plenty. If Bumrah was healthy, it could have been a different story.”
