After destroying Vazquez in 55 seconds, what’s next for Curmel Moton?

Mayweather Promotions prize prospect Curmel “Big Deal” Moton needed just 55 seconds to knock out his opponent Victor Vazquez on Saturday night, August 24 at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico.

This undercard match was the opening match on the main card of the Mayweather vs Gotti III event. Moton was expected to not only win, but also make a statement, and on Saturday night he ticked both boxes.

As the opening bell rang, Curmel Moton started the match using foot flips and using the jab. As Moton continued to press forward, he was able to connect with a hard left hook that staggered Vazquez.

After hurting his opponent, Curmel Moton landed a three-punch combination that sent Vazquez to the canvas. Vazquez tried to get up, but unfortunately for Vazquez, he couldn’t beat the count.

With the win, Mayweather wunderkind Curmel Moton (5-0, 4 KOs) remains undefeated as he continues to make a name for himself as one of the top prospects in the sport of boxing. After his brief ring appearance on Saturday night, the question is what’s next?

An interesting topic that is starting to gain traction on social media is the comparison of two big name prospects. Abdullah Mason and Curmel Moton are young, rising stars who separate themselves from the pack.

Top-ranked promoted Abdullah Mason (15-0, 13 KOs) is arguably the best prospect in boxing. Mason is a polished talent poised to make the transition from prospect to contender.

When going through the proverbial box checklist, Curmel Moton has all the tools. He has the speed, the power, punch placement and ring intelligence. One skill in particular that is really impressive is Moton’s ring generalship.

As fight fans, we tend to get over-anxious regarding potential marquee matches. The new fantasy matchup starting to gain attention is an Abdullah Mason vs Curmel Moton matchup.

We don’t know what’s next for Curmel Moton, but it’s safe to say it’s not a clash with Abdullah Mason. Because he’s so talented, it’s easy to forget Moton’s youthful age.

With that said, what’s next for 18-year-old Curmel Moton is patience and trust in the process. Moton is a star prospect who is destined to be a pound for pound candidate in the distant future.

As for his immediate future, hopefully Curmel Moton can stay active and continue to raise his profile. When asked about a possible matchup with Abdullah Mason, Moton admitted that Mason has skills and that they will face each other one day down the line.
