At the start of the first round, Jake Paul immediately took advantage of the 22 x 22 foot ring by dancing around and moving from side to side. Due to Paul staying at a safe distance, both men were only able to land two punches.
After watching the second round, it was clear that Jake Paul wasn’t trying to win; he tried to secure a moral victory by surviving all 8 rounds. Once the fans noticed what Jake was doing, they became restless.
Early in the fourth round, Paul finally planted his feet and landed a solid overhand right. The impact of the punch didn’t affect Joshua as he continued to push forward trying to close the distance.
As soon as Joshua entered, Paul grabbed Joshua by the waist and then dropped to his knees. Paul used this tactic repeatedly throughout the fourth round.
In the fifth round, Anthony Joshua switched gears as he went from pressing forward to aggressively pressing forward. Due to the increase in intensity, Joshua easily closed the distance and scored two takedowns.
At the start of the sixth round, Jake Paul looked tired and off balance. Joshua continued to move inside, measuring Paulus with a left, then landing a hard right hand, sending Paulus back to the canvas for a third.
Once again, Jake Paul was able to get up, and the match continued. With 1:41 left in the sixth round, Joshua ended the fight when he landed his signature right hand.
After the fight, Anthony Joshua (29-4, 26 KOs) celebrated his victory at LIV Night Club. While Joshua was enjoying the Miami nightlife, Jake Paul was at the University of Miami Hospital.
Last month at the press conference, Anthony Joshua said he was going to break Jake Paul’s face. Joshua fulfilled his promise when it was revealed that he had broken Paul’s jaw in two places.
Paul had two titanium plates inserted on each side of his face, and he had teeth removed. Despite the injury, Paul said he will make his return to the ring to win a world title.
Immediately after the fight, Anthony Joshua called out his longtime rival, Tyson Fury. The boxing world expects this fight to finally take place in 2026. The winner of the Joshua vs Fury match will be able to claim his position as the face of British boxing.
