British runners Megan Keith and Patrick Dever lead the roads of the Big Apple in 67:13 and 59:56 respectively.
Kenya’s Helen Obiri set a women’s course record of 66:33 at the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon on Sunday (March 15), beating Sharon Lockedi of 2025 in 67:04. Meanwhile, the men’s victory went to South African Adrian Wildshut with a score of 59:30.
It was also a good day for British runners as Megan Keith took third place in the women’s race in 67:13, with Patrick Dever breaking the 60-minute barrier in seventh place in the men’s race in 59:56.
Keith ran a British 10km record of 30:06 in Spain last month and continued his excellent form on the roads here, while Dever improved on his best of 60:11 ahead of next month’s London Marathon. It’s not the first time Dever has run well in New York, as he finished fourth in 2:08:58 in his debut marathon last year at the New York City Marathon.
Obiri Obiri was running with Agnes Ngetich and Sharon Lockedi in the early stages, but at 15km he ran into a half-minute advantage.
Lockedy was second in 67:10 and Keith was third in 67:13 and Emily Sisson was the top American in sixth in 69:06.
Adrian Wildschut opened an 11-second lead over USA’s Zuhair Talbi at 20km and held it to the line, with Talbi running 59:41, with India’s Gulveer Singh third in 59:42.
Much was expected of Grant Fisher, the US 5,000m and 10,000m record holder in his half marathon debut, but he finished 14th in 60:53.
British Eden Rainbow-Cooper and American Daniel Romanchuk won the wheelchair race.
