This chase started on a shaky note for Bengaluru Grace Harris dropped to just 9 in the second. But what followed was a batting masterclass that left DC fans speechless. Skipper Smriti Mandhana and Australian sensation Full Georgia put together a breathtaking 165 run partnership for the second wicket.
Mandhana was in ‘beast mode’ and reached her fifty off just 23 deliveries. His 87 off 41 balls with 12 boundaries and 3 powerful sixes provided RCB’s required aggression. On the other hand, Voll was equally devastating, scoring a majestic 79 off 54 balls. The duo treated DC bowlers including veterans Marizanne Kapp and Sneh Rana with general indifference, he maintains a rate of more than 10 runs in average overs.
Despite the late flutter that Voll was, Richa Ghoshand Mandhana fell successively, Radha Yadav (12) and Nadine de Klerk (7) they kept their temper. With 2 balls to go, RCB crossed the line at 204/4 and definitely created scenes of jubilation. As the fans in Vadodara rioted in celebration of the victory, Mandhana lifted the trophy, cementing RCB’s status as the new powerhouse of the WPL.
