The International Cricket Council on Wednesday (October 16) made three new additions to its Hall of Fame. England’s genius Alastair Cook, South Africa’s legend AB de Villiers and India’s Neetu David have been included in the governing body’s elite list.
England great Alastair Cook is undoubtedly one of the best openers to have played the game of cricket. His contribution to England Cricket has been immense and throughout his 12-year career, he has done incredible things for the team in all formats.
Alastair Cook retired as England’s all-time leading goalscorer. In 161 Tests, he scored 12,472 runs at an average of 45.35. He also scored 3204 runs in 92 ODIs at an average of 36.40. In 4 T20Is, the Southpaw has scored 61 runs at an average of 15.25 runs.
And AB de Villiers was the most dynamic batsman the game of cricket has ever seen. His ability to play shots in all corners of the ground and his 360 degree range made him unique. His international career spanned over 14 years and he scored more than 20,000 international runs across all three formats.
AB de Villiers played 114 Tests, finishing with 8,765 runs at an average of 50.66 and also picking 2 wickets. In 228 ODIs, he has amassed 9,577 runs at an average of 53.50 and also has 7 wickets under his belt. In 78 T20Is, he scored 1,672 runs at an average of 26.12.
Indian legend Neetu David became the second woman from India to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. She was one of the best spinners for the team and played more than 100 games for the Indian Women’s National Cricket Team.
She was the first woman player from India to take 100 ODI wickets. In 97 ODIs, he finished with 141 wickets at an average of 16.34. In 10 Tests, Neetu David picked 41 wickets at an average of 18.90.
