A total of 35 para-athletes will receive lottery funding in 2024/25

Here is a list of people who UK Athletics is backing to challenge for the Paralympic podium in the future.

A total of 35 athletes have been offered membership in the 2024/25 Paralympic World Program.

This follows the Paris Paralympics where the British team won 18 medals at Paris 2024, including six gold.

Hannah Cockroft, Sammy Kinghorn, Dan Pembroke, Ben Sandilands and Sabrina Fortune, the five British athletes who secured gold medals in Paris, have all been selected for the highest level of lottery funding.

The program is divided into three different levels of support – podium, podium potential and confirmation – with the aim of helping athletes who the governing body believes can win medals at the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games or 2032.

The next big goal of the athletes will be next year’s World Para-Athletics Championship, the destination of which has not yet been decided.

UKA Paralympic Program Manager Cathy Jones said: “Our thanks to UK Sport and The National Lottery for investing in a world-class Paralympic programme. We look forward to confirming our investment in Los Angeles later this year so we can continue to maintain our place as one of the world’s leading para-athletics nations.

“The support is essential to help our Paralympic athletes continue to be best prepared for major championships and games, and it’s vital that we continue to build on the success of the last few Paralympic rounds.”

The shortlist for the Olympic WCP has already been released, including a group of 65 athletes Keeley Hodgkinson, Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Matt Hudson-Smith.
