A terence Crawford victory over Canelo can open the door of the event

Terence Crawford has been listed for years as a current pound-for-pound, but on Saturday night, September 13, Crawford has a chance to challenge himself as a big time when he challenges the undisputed super-middleweight world champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (63-2-2, 39.

This highly expected event will take place at the Allegiant Stage in Las Vegas, Nevada, which will be broadcast live on Netflix. While Canelo will add another prominent name to his impressive resume, Terence Crawford will try to make more boxing history.

In August 2017, the then WBC, WBO Super-Lightweight World Champion Terence Crawford faced WBA, IBF champion Julius Indongo. With 1:35 left to go in the third round, Crawford connected to an evil left shot to the body.

Indongo went down to the canvas and rolled from side to side due to the intense pain he experienced. The referee continued to count out Indongo, and with the win Terence Crawford became the new undisputed super-lightweight world champion.

Six years later, in July 2023, the then WBO Welterweight World Champion Terence Crawford against WBA, WBC, IBF champion Errol Spence Jr. Crawford predominantly confronted because he stopped Spence in the 9th round and became an undisputed world champion of two weight.

Now Terence “Bud” Crawford (41-0, 31 CO’s) has jumped three divisions because he was planned to fight Canelo Alvarez. Everyone knows that Crawford’s skill set is elite, but the question is: Will the weight be the decisive factor?

Defending two-time undisputed super-middleweight world champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez has competed as 168 pounds for the past six years, while the challenger Terence Crawford will make his debut on Super Middleweight.

At Fight Night, Terence Crawford will rely on his ring intelligence and his elite skill set. If Crawford can control the scope and distance and box from outside, he will have a legitimate shot to pull off the dismay.

If he can collect the massive victory, Terence “Bud” Crawford will decrease in history as an undisputed world champion of three divisions. In addition to making history, Crawford will also create opportunities.

For a three-year period, Canelo Alvarez manipulated the super-middleweight division because he successfully avoided the two most talented fighters at 168. Both David Banavidez and David Morrell decided to move on because Canelo refused to give one of the people an opportunity to fight for the undisputed crown.

Now Terence Crawford has been enabled to make history and provide opportunity. The previous twice Crawford won the undisputed crown, and he immediately went up to a higher weight class.

If Crawford defeats the undisputed champion Canelo Alvarez, the likelihood that Crawford will evacuate and leave the division. Instead of going up, Crawford is likely to move to 160 or 154.

In the Crawford scenario that wins the attack and evacuates the belts, it would be equivalent to contenders such as Hamzah Sheeraz and Diego Pacheco who receive immediate opportunities to compete for their first world title.

On Saturday night, September 13, 37-year-old Omaha, Nebraska, Terence “Bud” Crawford, will fight for both legacy and the chance to blow up the super middleweight division and provide opportunity for others.
