Ben Shelton AND Taylor Fritz are creating days of glory for American tennis in Toronto tonight.
When the US Open Fritz finalist faces former US finalist Open Shelton for a place in the open National Bank final, she marks the first ATP Masters 1000 Semi-final since Andy Roddick defeated former Mardy Fish room in Cincinnati 2010.
It is the second meeting between the party, who are the two players most likely to break an American drought for men’s men and become the first American man since Roddick in 2003 to capture a large single crown.
“Without pressure, obviously motivation,” Shelton told that search. “I have no doubt that one of us will take it at one point. Who knows who it is, you guys just have to wait and see. I think American tennis is in a really good place.”

“I was lucky to take her as a partner. I don’t know if anyone else was talking to her, she told me the only person she would play is me, and I told her that the only person I would play is.”

“So I wasn’t sure to play a week before the US opens, the pre-week is really busy, it’s a hard week, a lot of responsibility,” Shelton said. “But I’m excited, and after all, when I saw the list of all the best players who wanted to play, it was something I wanted to be a part of it.”
