The popular and much-loved athletics event will return to Highgate in 2026
The night of 10,000m PBs, one of the most anticipated events in the indoor athletics calendar, will move to 2025.
The volunteer-based and spectator meeting, founded by Ben Poci in 2013 to improve the standards of British racing, will return in two years’ time and it is expected to be bigger and better.
Since its humble beginnings more than a decade ago, the night of 10,000m PBs – thanks to the hard work of Pochee and Highgate Harriers – has grown into a world-renowned event.
The event staged the British Trials for the Olympics and World Championships, of which the last two editions have been a part. at Running Track Night series.
Even with the changes from year to year, the night of 10,000m PBs has never lost its ethos and is known for its ‘three lanes of beer and cheer’, its ‘lactic acid tunnels of love’ and circus-style fun and entertainment.
This year’s edition was perhaps the biggest yet, as the field was especially packed with people, merch stands and plenty of things to keep young fans entertained, such as a climbing wall.
In recent years, athletes from around the world have traveled to London to compete, flying from the likes of Chile and Burundi to Ethiopia and the United States.
This year’s edition saw an incredible battle between Britain’s Megan Keith and USA’s Fiona O’Keefe, with the former winning in 31:03.02.
In the men’s competition, Djibouti’s Mohamed Ismail beat Patrick Dever with a time of 27:22.38.
Young athletes have also been given the chance to run in front of thousands of people, and the last few editions have included a junior 800m race.
“We’ve been flatteringly dubbed the Glastonbury of athletics and the similarities will now extend beyond our annual #Lane3BeerNCeer party,” said Poci and Highgate Harriers.
“Like the festival, we’ve decided to take a ‘fallen year’ – instead of Decent Farm Land, our volunteers will be on a well-earned rest, and therefore we won’t be hosting the Night.” 10,000m from PB in 2025.
“We look forward to welcoming you in 2026 and would like to thank our staff, partners, volunteers and supporters at Highgate Harriers who come together each year to build the event as a celebration of our grassroots community. Enjoyable running to all.”
