This is bad news for MUFC in what has already been such a difficult season, with several injured players that are missing many games.
Luke Shaw has had fitness problems for many years, while Mason Mount has not played the club since he joined Chelsea last season.
Martinez would probably have continued to play United regularly, especially now that Ruben Amorim has come in as a manager and tends to promote the use of three central centers.
Amorim can also ask for other worthy options such as Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire, but it is very ideal for the Portuguese tactic to have a less option to turn now.
It will be interesting to see if this means that United will look back to the signings in defense in the summer.
