Pakistan leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed will miss the ongoing first Test match against England after being hospitalized due to illness.
Abrar Ahmed was ruled out on the fourth day of the series in England’s first innings at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan on Thursday, October 10.
England national cricket team started the fourth day’s play with 492/3 with Joe Root and Harry Brook.
The duo played very well against the Pakistan attack. They posted a total of 823/7 before declaring and led by 267 runs after the end of the first innings.
Abrar Ahmed Hospitalized With Fever Ahead Of Day 4 In Multan Test
Abrar Ahmed struggled against the England batsmen on Day 3 of the Multan Test. He conceded 143 runs without taking a wicket in 21 overs.
In all, he scored just 35 and conceded 174 runs without taking a wicket, adding to Pakistan’s woes in the ongoing Test match in Multan.
It was reported that Abrar was taken to the hospital for treatment, and later admitted after a medical examination.
The spinner is suffering from severe fever which prevented him from fielding on the 4th day. Abrara was prescribed medication to reduce his fever and was advised to rest.
Bowling Options for Pakistan Limited – Ramiz Raja
Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja said on air that the home team’s bowling options are limited on Day 4 due to Abrar’s hospitalization. Raja confirmed that Abrar was suffering from fever and was hospitalized.

In the absence of Pakistan captain Shan Masood Abrar, part-time spinners Agha Salman, Saim Ayub and Saud Shakili were used.
On Wednesday, the three part-time spinners batted in just nine overs. Agha Salman got rid of Joe Root and Saim Ayub got rid of Harry Brook and Gus Atkinson on the fourth day.
Not a good time to be a Pakistan bowler – Alex Hartley
Former England bowler Alex Hartley said it was a tough time for Pakistan’s bowlers, especially after their key spinner Abrar Ahmed was hospitalized due to fever.
“It wasn’t a good time to be a Pakistan bowler, was it? Their front-rower Abrar Ahmed is out today as he is in hospital with a fever. Joe Root and Harry Brook started hanging out just before lunch in the middle,” said Alex Hartley, BCC Test Match Special- as quoted from.
Pakistan released spinners Noman Ali and Zahid Mahmud on the first day of the Test against England. The Pakistan Cricket Board has now called up five spinners for fitness tests ahead of the second Test in Multan as they had initially only announced the squad for the first Test of this series.
