How to watch the Travelers Championship on Sunday
A week after Norwegian soccer fans went viral for driving like Vikings on an escalator in Boston, a Norwegian golfer is giving his own show in Connecticut.
Paired with Scottie Scheffler on Saturday at TPC River Highlands, Viktor Hovland outlasted the world No. 1 in the third round of the Travelers Championship, shooting a six-under 64 to take a one-shot lead into Sunday’s final. Hovland is 20-under for the week. Scheffler, after a third-round 67, is right behind him, with Patrick Cantlay and Akshay Bhatia tied for third, five shots off Hovland’s pace.
Hovland hasn’t won since last year’s Valspar Championship, but he has two top 10s in 2026 and has shown excellent form this season, interspersed with disappointments, including missing cuts at both the PGA Championship and the US Open. Famously curious about his swing, and seemingly forever tinkering with his mechanics, Hovland said he’s focused on process this week at the Travelers, sticking to his routine, anticipating shots and trying to execute without worrying about results. It has worked
“It was really fun. I just had a blast. You know, it’s been a while since I’ve been in this position,” Hovland said of his Saturday performance. “Going head-to-head against the best player in the world and hitting some great shots, it was just a lot of fun.”
He has a chance to do it again today. He and Scheffler advance to the final pairing at 2:55 PM ET.
