Raul Fernandez took victory in the Assen sprint race at the Dutch Grand Prix, leading the trackhouse one-two as the factory Aprilia duo of Jorge Martin and Marco Bezecic collided for P4.
Saturday morning’s qualifying session saw Jorge Martin secure his first pole position in 616 days, beating Aprilia satellite rider Ay Oguran by 0.011s on the final flying lap. The Japanese rider made a brilliant start when the lights went out, and immediately took the lead in turn one.
Joan Mir brought out yellow flags on the first lap of the race, losing his Honda prototype on the fourth lap. Ogura then lost the lead to Martin while Marco Bezeci tried to catch up with Fabio Di Giantantonio.
Martin started to take out the gap on Ogura, then P2 was lost by his teammate Raul Fernandez, who invited the pressure of ‘Digia’ from behind. Fernandez did not waste time to catch his countryman and was quickly on the rear wheel.

Meanwhile, the factory Ducati boys of Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia dropped it for P6. The world champion managed to get the better of his team-mate, after which Fernandez got the better of Martin to take the lead.
There was a fierce battle between Martin and his Aprilia team-mate Marco Bezecchi, as Di Gianntonio and Ogura picked the Spaniard’s pocket to move to the podium places. All this time, Fernandez had a gap of 1.2 s in front of the field.
In another incident on the fourth lap, Franco Morbidelli crashed out of his own volition, joining Jack Miller and Mir as the race’s only retirees. Bagnaia looked to challenge Martin’s P5, but a last-gasp exit could result in a nasty crash.
Fernandes took the checkered flag first, leading Trackhouse’s first one-two in any race in the premier class, with Di Giannantonio completing the podium in P3.
Despite finishing in P6, Bagnaia was relegated after being found guilty of exceeding the track limit on the final lap of the race. As a result, his Ducati team-mate Marquez faced one place.
