Cheteshwar Pujara names the openers for Team India’s first T20I against England

Ahead of the first T20I, Pujara feels that India should stick to a tried and tested combination. Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson at the top of the order. Speaking to Star Sports, Pujara said he does not expect any changes in India’s top three for the series opener.

“I don’t see any change in India’s top three of Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan. Both Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan will definitely be part of the opening XI.” Pujara said.

Abhishek’s aggressive batting, Samson’s attacking approach and Kisha’s left-handed ability offer India a balanced top-order capable of taking on England’s bowling attack from the start.

Pujara on whether Vaibhav Suryavanshi will get a chance in the T20I series

Despite growing excitement around Suryavanshi, Pujara held off on including the teenage prodigy in his playing XI for the opening match. However, the veteran batsman is confident that the youngster will not have to wait long to get his chance in the five-match series.

Pujara believes that the depth of India’s squad and the length of the series has opened the door for Suryavanshi’s international debut, making rotation of players inevitable.

“When India rotate their players, Vaibhav Suryavanshi will surely feature in at least one match” he added.

While Pujara has backed the experience for the opening match, the biggest talk is whether the Indian team management will give Suryavanshi an early opportunity. The teenager’s batting sensation has created huge expectations after his remarkable performances in domestic and franchise cricket, making him one of the most exciting young prospects in Indian cricket.
