Jorge Martin’s departure from Aprilia has been confirmed for 2027 with the signing of Francesco Bagnaia, but he does not think it will affect his title chances in 2026.

Interestingly, this is nothing new for Martin, having experienced a similar situation with Ducati in 2024. The Spaniard has been denied a factory seat for 2025 and has reached an agreement with Aprilia midway through the 2024 campaign.
Martin goes on to beat Bagnaya for the championship with pramak. While his rival is replacing him next season, he remains confident that Aprilia will give him what it takes to fight for the title, just as Ducati did.

He said this while describing the situation in Assen Motorsport Spain: “Just like Ducati, I believe the Apria will give me everything I need to fight for the title. I have a lot of faith in Fabiano (Stellachini) and the team.”
Bagnaia signed a four-year contract with ApriliaMarking unusual activity as the Cavaliers sign two-year deals during contract cycles.
Asked about his signing, Martin added: “Peco is a good man, a great rider, and I wish him nothing but the best for his future. I hope he does very well and can fight for many titles.”

Bagnaia and Bezzecchi are locked in for 2027, all but confirming Martin’s move to Yamaha. But the 2024 champion is not thinking about the future, insisting that he is committed to improving his performance at RS-GP.
“I don’t want to be distracted by the future, which will come in due time,” he said. “I want to focus on this year, because I have a very good chance, but at the same time, I am very far from where I want to be in terms of how I feel.
“We were doing well until Le Mans, and when I won there we thought we had found the right base. We have to learn about the bike and improve.”
