Amy Hunt wins 100m runblogrun

Amy Hunt won the 100m

Amy Hunt 1 sprinter for British women. In some events the standard is no more than average, events in which Great Britain will struggle to find a single athlete who can challenge for the podium at the US trials. Other events are world class. Women’s 100 meters is a lot in that category. Dina Usher-Smith is a former world champion but is now the wrong side of 30. Dina moved from the US to the UK and then back to the US to connect with another American trainer. Amy won a silver medal in the 200 in Tokyo last year. His coaching situation is stable. He was in Italy with Marco Airale about 3 years. Amy is 24 years old and improving all the time.

Their personalities are also different. Dina’s comments to the media are very circumspect. sometimes reads like a prepared statement. Amy speaks much more from the heart. I remember interviewing Amy once. He told me he could only give me 20 minutes. After 35 I asked if she was still good for that time. He replied that he was fine and that he enjoyed talking to me.

Amy loves to compete. He went to five shutouts this year. Outside, he ran in the US and 5 Diamond Leagues in 2026. He went 11-under for the first time in Stockholm and repeated it in (windy) Oslo the same week.

At GB Champs Amy won one semi in 11.27, Dina won one semi in 11.28 each doing what they needed to do. In the final, Dina got off to a great start and built up a significant lead, but Amy ran her down.

2 Dina Usher-Smith 11.13

It somehow felt more like a race to win than a race to chase a fast time.

Amy then said. “It shows that our national championships are the best in the world. We have the best fans and the best athletes competing right now. Dina is one of the fastest on the circuit, so I know when I come here I have to bring my A-game. It was great to get the win today. I don’t feel that much pressure in my mind. I love how I do this to people so much. For me, running and running fast is 10/10.”

Dina commented. “I’m really happy with 11.1 today. It’s been a strange couple of weeks for me, so I’m glad I ran a good race and had a really good time. It showed me what I need to sharpen up on, but I’m really happy. It all comes together. I’m happy, I’m healthy and I’m in great mental shape to compete. Sometimes you have to believe it. It doesn’t have to go your way or the way you want it to, you have to be able to see what you have to work on, so I’m glad I saw that and I’m excited to go and work.” Four times Dinah says that she is happy, as Shakespeare wrote in Hamlet: “The lady complains a lot, she thinks.”

Amy flies and 200 is still to come.

In the men’s 100, Rommel Glave’s 9.98 was a surprise, and Jarnell Hughes was second with a 10.01.

  • Stuart Weir has been writing for RunBlogRun since 2015. He competes in about 20 events a year, including all world championships and diamond leagues. He enjoys finding the strange and obscure story.
