Having only won the US Open for the second time in three years, Wyndham Clark was quick to credit the club that helped him win.
“I played some ugly golf the last two days, but my putting and short game kept me in it,” Clark told NCB’s Mike Tirico at the trophy ceremony. “Making all the shots I did with my Ping putter that I love so much has been amazing.”
On the 72nd hole, Clark delayed his 52-foot putt to within 9 inches to secure his second major title and second win of the season since moving to a Ping Scottsdale TEC Ally Blue Onset CB barrel. Clark praised the player many times in recent weeks for the turnaround in his game from 2025.
This week only Clark signed a unique endorsement contract with Ping to continue using the thruster. This was the first Ping-only deal in more than 50 years of sponsoring Tour players.
“I appreciate the young player helping me get back into the winner’s circle,” Clark said in a release announcing the deal. “The white finish first caught my eye, and when I started rolling shots with it, it set up easily and gave me instant confidence. I’d never used a launch shot before, so it was a new look for me that really matched my eye. The launch combined with the bar top point simplifies alignment and my consistency has improved. I’m sinking more long shots than ever.”
Clark started the year as an agent without equipment after his previous contract with Titleist expired at the end of 2025. He cycled through the first two months of the season, then switched to the Scottsdale TEC in March at the Texas Children’s Houston Open before switching to a heavier offset version at the RBC Heritage in April.
Since switching to the 38-inch offset model, Clark has skyrocketed in the PGA Tour’s SG: Putting category, going from losing .725 strokes per round to ranking 155th on Tour in T62 and 120 strokes gained on the course. Most of the improvement has come from 5 to 15 feet, where Clark’s winning percentage has gone from 160th on Tour to 55th.
This week, Clark was T4 in Strokes Gained: Putting, picking up more than 6 strokes on the field.
While he’s now tied to his pitcher, Clark remains a free agent for the rest of his kit except his bullpen. He continues to reiterate Titleist for the Pro V1x. Besides the shooter, the other club he has experimented with this season is his driver.
The 2023 US Open champion started the year using four different drivers in his first five events before settling on TaylorMade Qi4D. He won in Dallas in his first week he played Project X’s new Titan Yellow wood shaft and made more changes over the last two weeks to the setup, dropping from a 10.5 head due to the high spin.
“It’s really a high lofted 9° head and we were just looking to get his spin rates down to 2500-2400,” said TaylorMade Tour representative Adrian Rietveld. “So we chose the 9° head because we couldn’t do it with the 10.5°.
“Same settings, same weight setup and everything, we just had to find a loft structure. We had one less loft.”
Clark finished 14th for the week at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in SG: Off-the-Tee.
The win means all five men’s and women’s majors this season have been won with TaylorMade drivers. Clark joins Rory McIlroy and Nelly Korda to win four of their five with the Qi4D driver. He is the only top earner using Qi4D without a contract.
The rest of his bag includes a Ping G440 Max 3-wood – making him the first player in the last seven championships to win without using a TaylorMade Qi10 – the same Titleist T-Series irons he played while under contract with Titleist last season and Vokey SM11 wedges.

SHAPE FOR SPEED The re-engineered head profile increases ball speed thanks to improved aerodynamics developed through advanced simulations. FACE FOR DISTANCE 60x Carbon Twist Face™ is a technological cornerstone that provides weight savings, exceptional ball speed and more durability compared to a titanium face. ADJUSTABLE PERFORMANCE The 4° loft sleeve can be used to adjust the loft angle, reach and face for optimized flight. PROVEN TOUR TECHNOLOGY The new and improved Speed Pocket™ cutting edge protects ball speed and reduces spin on low face shots. Advanced CAD modeling creates a design with a clean and powerful sound, a foundation of TaylorMade driver performance. Multi-material construction allows engineers to strategically place mass in areas of the head where it maximizes performance, speed and stability.

Project X Titan Black Wood Shaft
You can only evolve so many times. Then you have to reinvent. Designed and engineered in our R&D lab in San Diego, CA, the Titan Black is built to meet the demands of today’s fastest and most aggressive swingers. A more elastic section of the handle gradually tapers in the middle and tip, giving a smooth feel with added stability where it matters most. Synex technology uses multi-axial carbon fiber to reinforce the outer structure of the shaft, increasing the stiffness of the circle from the handle to the mid-section for efficient power transfer and improved control. Blending feel and stability, the Titan Black gives players the confidence to move faster without sacrificing dispersion or stability.
