Ducati will have to impose team orders on Francesco Bagnaia after the incident at the Czech Grand Prix.

He led the race on Sunday after a good run against Marquez, but predictably crashed out. After falling from teammate and Trackhouse’s Ai Ogura, he saw off a late threat from Giannantonio to secure P3.

Bagnaia is just 13 points clear of Marquez in the championship, and has outscored him in two of the three races this weekend. But the events on Sunday should be provocative Ducati To load group orders.

After their earlier clash, Bagnaya took Marquez to the 16th round to send him away for good. The Spaniard looked very quick and showed plenty after the crossing, extending his gap to 2.3 seconds at the checkered flag.

however, Marquez came under pressure from Ogura late on.a pole vaulter who is making a habit of finishing the race stronger. The trackhouse rider was four-tenths late over the line.

Marquez may be caught here, but this race should be a warning to Ducati. The championship winner lost crucial time in a battle with his team-mate and just when a pass looked inevitable and, with two laps to go, Ogura made him pay.

With Aprilia pushing the boundaries over the last two race weekends, Marquez is a genuine and perhaps unexpected shot at winning the World Championship, despite being 40 points adrift.

And while he can beat anyone pretty well, Bagnaia hasn’t done enough to be taken seriously as a contender.

Ducati should inform Bagnaia that, should the Brno situation arise again, he should let his team-mate pass without a fight. That will benefit the team at this stage, especially when the #63 heads to Aprilia at the end of the year.

Bagnaia is a two-time world champion with Ducati, so it will be a painful conversation for Luigi D’Alliegna and Davide Tardozzi, but they shouldn’t let emotion dictate their management.

Bagnaia himself now has to play a supporting role at Borgo Panigale, just as Jack Miller is expected to help Bagnaia when he replaces Fabio Quatararo in 2022.
