Marco Bezecchi apologized on social media after being banned from the race for hitting Marshall at the Czech Grand Prix.
Bezechchi pushed Marshall. And he was slapped in the face by the dispute over his Aprilia motorcycle rescue. The championship leader had just crashed out of the sprint race at Brno.
FIM stewards then threw Bezechichi Violation of article 3.3.2.2 of the rules regarding actions ‘infringing the interests of the sport’ outside of the Sunday competition. Aprilia appealed, but this was denied.
What do you think of Marco Bezecic’s suspension from the Czech GP?
Bezechchi hit Marshall after falling out of the sprint
Marco Bezecchi sorry to ‘the whole MotoGP community’ after Marshall’s accident.
Bezecchi released a statement on Sunday morning. Instagram He admitted that there was no ‘justification’ for what he had done.
The statement began: “I would like to apologize to the entire MotoGP community for my behavior at the trackside marshall.
“And I’m sorry because I know how much effort and sacrifice Marshall puts in to keep us safe.
“This behavior should not happen and there is no reason for it. I apologize to everyone, Aprilia Racing and all my fans.”
Bezeci was due to start Sunday’s race from fourth place, but now his season-long points swing is in jeopardy. Aprilia will go scoreless for the second time in a row after team-mate George Martin was eliminated at Balaton Park.
The Italian currently leads the standings by 15 points and will have to serve a double-length ban on Sunday for his fault in Hungary.
However, perhaps of greater concern is reigning champion Marc Marquez, who could make a big difference in his current 65-point deficit to fifth on the grid. Sprint winner Francesco Bagnaia is currently 69 behind Bezzicci.
The last Grand Prix driver to be suspended was Denise Onku. He was due to take part in two Moto3 races in 2021 after ‘irresponsible riding’ caused a bike accident at the US GP.
