Bam Rodriguez stops Vargas in the sixth, are the two Inoue’s next?

Vargas did well in the opening round as he finished off the jab and landed the 2-1 combination on several occasions. Rodriguez started the second round in an aggressive manner as he used his footwork to create angles.

The twisting and lateral movement that Bam used put him in a position to land solid shots to the head and body of Vargas. In the third round, the defending champion, Antonio Vargas, was very strategic.

Every time Rodriguez used the high guard, Vargas would capitalize with his volume punch. After finding success in the fourth round, Vargas went on a run in the fifth when Rodriguez connected with a big left hand.

Antonio Vargas was able to get up and survive the remaining 2:34 of round number 5. At the 1:52 mark of round six, Bam Rodriguez abruptly ended the fight when he hit Vargas with a debilitating straight left.

With the win, Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez (24-0, 17 KOs) won the WBA bantamweight title and became a three-division world champion. Now the boxing public is hoping that Bam Rodriguez is ready to try and put undefeated on his resume.

One of the biggest fights made in boxing is a showdown between Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez and two-division undisputed world champion Naoya “The Monster” Inoue (33-0, 27 KOs).

A fight for super-bantamweight supremacy between Inoue and Rodriguez would be epic. For the smaller weight classes, an Inoue vs Bam clash is the equivalent of Crawford vs Spence.

The undisputed bantamweight world champion Naoya Inoue is a boxer-puncher who is technically sound, accurate, explosive and has devastating punching power.

Bam Rodriguez is a pressure fighter who uses constant movement, has elite footwork, power, and he throws punches in bunches. A match between Inoue and Rodriguez would be a guaranteed action-packed firefight.

Boxing fans want Bam Rodriguez to fight Inoue, but during an interview with The Ring days before the Vargas fight, Bam revealed that he has not one, but two Inoues on his radar. Bam wants to fight The Monster, and he also wants to fight The Monster’s brother, Takuma Inoue (22-2, 5 KOs).

“I think it’s almost the perfect storyline for the Inoue fight, to beat his brother, and then go in and fight the second brother,” Bam said.
