Blair Cobbs says Devin Haney is a “coward,” and he’s worried that if he beats him, he’ll somehow have his defeat expunged from his record. A sparring session between the two fighters surfaced recently, showing Cobbs beating the stuffing out of Haney at times and landing some big shots.
Haney and Cobbs are rumored to fight next in December. If that turns out to be true, it will be Haney’s comeback fight and his way to get his feet wet in the welterweight division. The 25-year-old Haney has outgrown the 140-lb division, and it would be a mistake for him to drop down to the weight class for his next fight.
If Devin is fighting at 60% capacity due to the 20+ pounds of water weight he has to shed, even a tune-up level fighter can beat him. A second straight loss would see the mega paydays Haney has become accustomed to vanish. Besides, he would no longer be on the A-listt and given the red-carpet treatment at events. He would be just another fading contender.
Haney is a fight Cobbs says he would like, but he doubts it will happen. Haney is still on the shelf after the bad experience he had, losing to Ryan Garcia on April 20th. Some fans question whether Haney will ever be the same after the way Ryan pushed him.
Cobbs (17-1-1, 10 KOs) doesn’t like how Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) reacted to his loss to Ryan, crying about it instead of taking the loss like a fighter would with a taking a stiff upper lip.
Blair says the Ostarine that Ryan tested positive for did nothing to affect the outcome of the fight. In other words, Haney lost the fight because Ryan was a better fighter, and had his number.
“Everyone saw how you acted with the Ryan-a**-hope. You can react better when you take a loss,” Blair Cobbs said Fight Hub TVwhich talks about Devin Haney’s decision to go the legal route after his loss to Ryan Garcia on April 20th.
“Since you wanted to act like you were, I didn’t start acting like a coward after a loss. I jumped back. Do you think you can handle someone like me? You remember that a** whooping, right? Come get it, and I’ll take those pillow hands, and shove them in your (blank) and show you what it really is, a coward. Do something about it,” Cobbs said.
The way Cobbs looked against Adrien Broner last June would be too much for Haney. Cobbs hit too hard and would pot Haney all night. It may not go far.
“There were no talks. Honestly, there have been more conversations about a Conor Benn or Ennis than Devin Haney,” Cobbs said. Marco when asked if there were negotiations for a fight with Haney. “Anyway, it will be great for boxing.
First I have no power now I am on PEDS. OK

“If I could fight anyone, it would be Ryan Garcia. I can wait, but it will be a battle to wait for. I would take a tune-up and then fight Ryan Garcia. I would push out a heavy promotion. Once I win that fight, my star status will increase tenfold, twentyfold, and probably a hundredfold.
“Devin would probably be the last fight I want because they can’t take a loss. They will (Team Haney) will start crying all the way. They cannot take a loss. They will reverse it (make loss wipe out). They will do something. They are a very unfair group of people who cannot take a loss.
“You’ve come this far with what you’re doing, but when you get to this point, it’s time for you to gracefully bow out of losing and be the champion that you are. You can’t do that. So, all those awards are fake. Everything that’s happened up until now is fake,” Cobbs said of Haney.
Ryan took a few chips out of Haney’s confidence with that three-knockout, 12-round majority decision, and it doesn’t look good that he sat idle all this time without returning to the ring against one of the killers at 140 or 147. Haney could have fought Sandor Martin, Liam Paro or pretty much anyone.
“You’re not the real champion because like where was Sugar Ray Leonard when he suffered a loss? He came back. No, because Ostarine is not something that someone who was baptized would take,” Cobbs said when asked if he thought Haney shouldn’t have made a big deal about Ryan Garcia testing positive for a PED before their fight on 20 April is not.
Haney had the opportunity to defend his WBA light welterweight title against Sandor Martin, but chose not to accept the fight after a low purse. He was demoted from WBC Champion to ‘Champion in Recess’, and he is no longer the 140-lb champion with that organization.
Haney should have taken that fight because it would have given him a chance to get an easy payday and show the fans that he has bounced back from his loss to Ryan. His decision to reject the fight and forfeit his WBC title led to many fans thinking he had lost his confidence from his defeat.
“They certainly won’t take extremely small doses of it as if it’s going to do anything. Most of the time they have Ostarine in most supplements. The thing is, these are such low doses that they don’t even put it on the label. When you do these kinds of anti-blood doping, they will bring up all kinds of things, right? That doesn’t mean it’s going to do anything.
“I’ll show you all the supplements I take just to keep my a** alive in training camp. I’ll bet that even though they have the highest degree and the best qualities, they’ll be like, ‘Yo, I don’t know what that is.’ I did a lot of research to know that Ostarine is a very common thing among supplements in general. A lot of the time the supplements are contaminated with very, very small doses of Ostarine.
“Ostarine is not an improvement at that level. It’s only an improvement when it’s in a high dose, and it’s combined with other things,” Cobbs said.
Whether or not Ostarine helped Ryan Garcia, we’ll never know until he and Devin fight again. A rematch doesn’t promise with Haney’s father, Bill Haney, who gives 48-hour deadlines for drug testing and sounds like he still hasn’t mentally processed the reality of what happened last April. Bill still acts like he thinks Devin is on top of the world, undefeated in a true sense, and considered #1 at 140.
None of those things are valid anymore. Ryan changed all that with his one-sided win over Haney, and Bill needs to understand that his son is considered yesterday’s news by fans. It will remain that way until Haney proves that he is not a wash-up.
