Amy Hunt Runs Into Shape – runblogrun

Amy Hunt is on form

It was a good week for that Amy Hunt. A strong 200 in Rome, a PR in the 100 in Stockholm and second in the 100m in Oslo.

In Rome:he was fourth in the 200, but that was just shy of fourth Julien Alfred and: Melissa Jefferson Wooden! Amy’s time was 22.52, well off her PR of 22.08, but this is early in the season. In Stockholm, she was second in the 100, again behind that pesky Jefferson-Wooden. His time in Stockholm was 10.97, the first official run under 11 seconds. I say “official” because Amy mentioned that she’s practically 11 regularly.

His enthusiastic comments in Stockholm were: “The Under-11s have been in the works for many years, so I’m very excited that it’s finally happening. I was running sub-11 every day in training, but I needed the conditions to be right for the race. Been running a lot this season but it’s given me a chance to work on them in the race and tonight everything came together, I love the race so much then I’m ready for the championship run but I can still play in the 10m Very next is Oslo for another 100m so quick turnaround.

There’s nothing like local competition to add extra motivation and it certainly added to her satisfaction that she finished ahead of Dina Usher-Smith in both races. It’s hard to believe that two years ago he didn’t make the GB team in the individual events at the Paris Olympics, only running the relay.

To finish off the week, Emin was second behind Julien Alfred in Oslo in a breezy 10.99, commenting: “I wish we had better conditions but I’m used to cold and rain as a Brit. I am very happy to have secured my speech here in Stockholm this evening. I wanted to be in the top two. It was a messy race for me, but I could on the third day. I’m consistently going over the under-11s, which is great, and I’m hoping I can go big in Oslo in the summer, so it’s great to be here. 200m this year, that’s interesting.

Amy is an open athlete, always ready to talk. I remember I put 1-2-1 with him and he said he would give me 20 minutes; 35 minutes later he was still talking to me. Great athlete and attractive person.
