It’s “Golf’s Longest Day,” although if we’re honest, we wish it was longer.
It is not that we are cruel. Monday’s final qualifying for the US Open has earned the nickname “the long” – across 10 sites, players will play 36 holes in hopes of earning a spot in the big jump, which begins on Thursday, June 18 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Long Island, NY It’s a fight, no doubt.
The thing is, for those of us watching, it’s colorful. Winners and non-winners. And stories, happy and not so happy, from names you’ve probably heard of — Max Homa, Tony Finau, Billy Horschel and Matt Kuchar, among others — and from players who may be unfamiliar. And hey, it’s golf Monday. The Golf Channel will air the tournaments from noon to 2:00 pm ET, and from 4:00 pm to midnight ET.
