IBF/WBO middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly posted a message on social media asking Hamzah Sheeraz, his WBO commit, about his next move. The WBO has the Janibek vs. Hamzah fight on October 8th, and fans are already very interested in seeing these two big punchers mix it up.
It will look bad for Sheeraz if he chooses not to challenge Janibek for his two titles because the fans will see him as lacking confidence to take on the #1 fighter in the 160-lb division. Many people already believe that Sheeraz does not want to know Janibek and would never in a million years fight him because the end result would be disastrous.
If Sheeraz wants to show he is legit and not a hype job as some fans perceive him to be, he will take the fight to Janibek. If Sheeraz wins this match, he will hold two titles and can then face WBA champion Erislandy Lara and then WBC champion Carlos Adames to become undisputed at 160.
Janibek Alimkhanuly = King of 160-lb division
Janibek (16-0, 11 KOs), regarded as the King of the 160-lb division by die-hard boxing fans who know the sport inside and out, is waiting to find out if highly hyped British fighter Sheeraz (21- 0) , 17 KOs) will face off. Some fans believe that 25-year-old Sheeraz will choose to watch with doubt the weakest link among the three middleweight champions, WBC belt holder Carlos Adames.
Janibek asked Sheeraz today about his next move because if he’s not going to take the risk, which is understandable, he’ll want to start setting up his next title defense of his IBF and WBO middleweight belts.
Although the 6’3″ Sheeraz looked powerful with his knockouts of Tyler Denny, Austin Williams and Liam Williams, he looked weak in the chin department. He may be hiding a glass jaw that will shatter once he gets in the ring with a big puncher with the skills and power of unified 160-lb champion Janibek.
