Bill Haney says Devin Haney is still chasing Boks’ Mount Rushmore

Asked about the future and opportunities available to fighters through new platforms entering the sport, Haney pointed to the long-term goals he still has for his son.

“At 27, Devin is still developing himself. He’s still moving toward, you know what I mean, the Mount Rushmore boxer. He’s still growing,” Bill told MillCity Boxing.

Haney also shared a favorable view of Zuffa’s arrival in boxing, suggesting that additional platforms can only benefit fighters looking to build their careers.

“It’s a platform that a fighter can go over, and it really is, and they really listen to their coach, and their coach really looks at everything. I mean, it’s a great opportunity, man,” Bill says.

While critics continue to debate Devin Haney’s place among the sport’s elite, Bill believes his accomplishments have already secured a place among boxing’s most accomplished fighters.

“Well, I mean it would have to be hard that when you talk to other Hall of Fame fighters, and they say that Devin is a Hall of Famer, and they say that you’re not right. You never hear Hall of Fame with his game,” Bill said.

“I think once they realize and once they sit back, they would love to have a career that Devin had.”

Haney’s comments come as Devin continues to weigh his next move in a loaded welterweight division, with several high-profile fights potentially up for grabs as boxing’s promotional landscape continues to evolve.
