Sabbath Memorial Times: What You Need to Know
JT Poston rode the best round of the day on a tough windy Friday at Muirfield Village. Poston birdied six holes on the front nine (and made just one bogey) and capped it off with a perfect sand for 18 to shoot a seven-under 65, the lowest round of the day by four shots.
“I just knew he was going to play hard,” Poston said. “The goal was to try and be patient and keep hitting shots like I did yesterday, and that helps to get off to a good start, hit some nice long shots on the first couple of holes and I feel like I’m off and running.”
Poston is nine under overall, one ahead of Ryan Gerard, who shot a 69 on Friday. Sam Burns (six under) is alone in third place.
Poston is after his fourth career PGA Tour victory and first since winning the 2024 Shriners Children’s Open. Gerard has won just once on the PGA Tour, which came at the 2025 Barracuda Championship, an event that uses a modified Stableford format that was played opposite last year’s Open Championship. He was runner-up in his first two starts of the season (Sony Open and American Express), but didn’t finish in the top 10 again until last week’s Charles Schwab Challenge (T10).
Poston and Gerard will make the final pairing on Saturday (1:40 p.m. ET), as both try to stay in the hunt for what would be the biggest win of their careers.
