The fight reached the final bell without a takedown. Outside of the opening-round ropes incident, neither fighter came close to ending things early. Instead, the fight became a tactical contest built around positioning, counters, and timing.
When the scores were announced, Foster retained his title by majority decision and improved to 25-3. He fought in front of his hometown fans and celebrated in the ring before turning his attention to possible future opportunities, including unification fights and a possible showdown with Shakur Stevenson.
Ford came up short on the cards, but the performance solidified that he belongs among the top fighters at 130 pounds. He found success and remained competitive throughout the fight, but Foster’s adjustments and stronger middle rounds ultimately made the difference.
