The champion suggested Ford’s camp turned the fight into a team effort, viewing it as a sign of respect rather than intimidation.
“It was Shakur, Ray and Hitchins. He was there. He and I had a little back and forth the other day. But no, definitely. They over there were acting like the Avengers,” Foster told InsideRingShow.
“They said, ‘Why was Shock worried about the sparring?’ You all put it out there. You post pictures with these guys and act like you’re supposed to be scary or act like I’m supposed to be worried. That’s why I reacted.”
“I really don’t care who he ghosts over there. But don’t post pictures like you’re the Avengers or something, because at the end of the day, when I beat you up, it’s going to make you all look worse.”
O’Shaquie repeatedly pointed to Ford’s close ties to Shakur throughout the promotion. He claimed earlier in the interview that Stevenson and others around Ford gave advice because they knew how dangerous he was.
“I see a lot. He got Wali, Shakur’s grandfather, everybody there helping him give him tips on how to hit me. I’ve never seen anything like that,” O’Shaquie said.
“That’s how nervous they are, and they know that I’m the truth.”
“If you need all that help and all these people feel that they have to come and give you advice and tell you this and that, then it shows the caliber of fighter that I am.”
O’Shaquie believes a win over Ford will boost calls for a future fight against Shakur, a matchup he has been pursuing for months.
“After this fight, I expect the public, I expect the fans, everyone to demand the Shakur fight as soon as we get rid of his son.”
Ford challenges Foster for the WBC title on Saturday night in Houston. The fight headlines a DAZN card and is considered by many fans to be one of the best bouts currently available at 130 pounds.
