2026 test drivers wanted to buy – and those who didn’t


We spend a lot of time talking about performance data. And these data matter. But here’s the thing about golfers: if they fall in love with a driver, they’ll buy it. Sometimes that love lines up perfectly with the numbers, sometimes it doesn’t.

Every time a tester hits a driver in our country Driver test 2026we asked them a simple question: How likely are you to buy this club? We collected those responses across the test, ranked them, and here are the results.

Test drivers mostly wanted to buy

Here are the five drivers that scored highest for purchase intent across our 2026 test. We’ve included the performance scores alongside them so you can see how desire and data lined up.

Callaway dominated this part of the list, taking two of the top three spots. In general, The Quantum line did very well in 2026 testing. of Quantum Triple Diamond Max ranked first overall in purchase intent across the field and benchmark Quantum Max it wasn’t far behind. Both also backed it up with strong performance numbers, so for Callaway buyers, heart and data are in perfect alignment.

Test drivers least wanted to buy

Now for the other end of the list. These are the five leads that finished at the bottom of the purchase goal in our entire test.

A few things stand out here. Vice Golf leaders taking two out of five points suggests that however VGD01 AND VGD01+ perform in testing, testers are simply not ready to commit to the point of purchase. The VGD01+ had solid distance numbers, but that wasn’t enough to make up for the accuracy and forgiveness results.

You will also notice the other one Driver Ben Hogan we tested ended up here. Having a driver from the same brand makes the first five “most likely to buy” and the last five “least wanted” is not something you see very often. It tells you a lot about how important product fit and audience targeting are.

If you look at these five leaders as a group, a pattern emerges. There’s very little to get excited about across the board. The only metrics that really stand out are distance per Wilson DYNAPWR carbon AND VGD01+ and accuracy for PTx LST. When a driver doesn’t give testers plenty of reasons to feel good about it, purchase intent suffers, and that’s what we’re seeing here.
