RCB’s massive total proved too much for GT
At the start of the match, RCB put up one of the most devastating batting performances seen in the history of IPL playoffs. Captain Patidar led the carnage with a breathtaking unbeaten 93 off just 33 deliveries, hitting nine sixes and five boundaries.
Virat Kohli while providing early momentum with a fast 43 Devdutt Padikkal and Krunal Pandya also made valuable contributions. Bengaluru exploded in the final phase of the innings, amassing 114 runs in the last six overs to finish with a mammoth 254/5, the highest total ever recorded in an IPL play-off match.
Gujarat stormed into the finals as RCB
Chasing an impossible target, Gujarat Titans never recovered after losing wickets regularly. Sudharsan’s strange dismissal followed Shubman Gill’s early departure, however If Buttler could not have an effect.
GT were reduced to 51/5 at one stage as RCB’s bowling attack completely dominated under pressure. Rahul Tewatia the counter-attack struggled mightily with 68, but the required pace continued to rise rapidly. Gujarat were eventually bowled out for 162.
With the emphatic win, Royal Challengers Bengaluru advanced to their fifth IPL final and are now just one step away from successfully defending their title. Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans will get another opportunity to qualify for the finals when they play the winner of the Eliminator.
