Pat Cummins shows his desperation to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25


Australia Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins recently revealed the only thing he hasn’t mentioned in his cricket career.

Pat Cummins says he is yet to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). series victory against the Indian team despite some of his teammates doing so.

Australia last won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy during the 2014-15 series. India He won the trophy in four consecutive series, including two in Australia.

However, they managed to defeat India in the final of the 2023 World Test Championship. They also defeated India in the final match of ODI World Cup 2023.

Speaking during the event, Pat Cummins said winning a Test series against India was one of the few achievements he was yet to achieve. He added that he has not been able to win consecutively against India so far.

“I was thinking about it the other day. It’s about the only thing I haven’t really mentioned. I haven’t beaten India in a Test series yet. A couple of guys have, but not me,” Cummins said during the event, per The Sydney Morning Herald .

Pat Cummins Takes 50 Test Wickets Against India

Cummins will lead Australia in the five-match Test series against India on November 22. He captained Australia in three Test matches against India.

The 31-year-old pacer led the team to victory in just one match, the deciding final of the 2023 ICC World Test Championship at The Oval.

Pat played his first Test match in 2017 against India where Australia lost by a tough rubber.

He has been impressive in the last two home series against India, notably scoring 21 wickets in four Tests in the 2020-21 series. In total, he scored 50 wickets in 13 Tests against India.

Pat Cummins has spoken about his experience of stepping into the captaincy after being appointed in late 2021. Cummins emphasized that he looked up to former Australian captains, but he understood the need to be himself.

“All my life, you look at an Australian captain and you know who he is and you go, ‘Oh wow, they’re so skilled and they’ve got to have all their shit together.’ And then all of a sudden when I became the captain, ‘Oh, I’m going to be that kind of person, it was great to have a lot of support in the early stages and the decision-makers chose me and thought I was ready for it. Before I knew I was myself, I suppose.”

“Well, do I want to try and replicate other people, or do I just want to be myself?” I always thought I should be me because that’s all I really know,” she said.
