The Gujarat Titans (GT) despite being among the league’s newest franchises, they quickly established themselves as one of the most competitive sides in the Indian Premier League. Submitted first IPL 2022 along with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Over the next few years, GT continued to dominate the league stage regularly and built a reputation for thriving under pressure. From lifting the trophy in their first campaign to reaching another final in 2023, the Titans have enjoyed many memorable playoff moments in their short time.
How Gujarat Titans Performed in IPL Playoffs:
As the IPL playoffs are underway, let’s take a look at how Gujarat Titans fared in the biggest stage of the playoffs:
IPL 2022: Champions
GT had one of the greatest debut campaigns in IPL history under Hardik’s captaincy. The Titans finished top of the points table after a dominant league run and entered the playoffs as favourites. In classification 1 vs Rajasthan Royals (RR)Thanks to the GT, it drove the 189 comfortably by David Miller sensational finish and a seven-wicket victory. The two teams met again in the final in Ahmedabad where GT produced another clinical performance. Restricting RR to 130, Titans easily chased down the target with captain Hardik’s all-round brilliance to win their first IPL trophy in their first season.
IPL 2023: Runners-up
GT once again dominated the league stage IPL 2023 and finished at the top of the points table. However, their playoff journey was more dramatic this time around. In option 1, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Beat GT by 15 runs, handing them their first playoff loss. The Titans responded brilliantly in Qualifier 2 Mumbai Indians (MI)crushing them by 62 runs Shubman Gill destroyed the breathtaking century. In the final against CSK, GT batted first at 214/4 but a rain cut reduced the chase to 171 in 15 overs by DLS. The match went to the last ball where CSK registered a thrilling five-wicket win to deny them back-to-back GT titles.
IPL 2024: Did not qualify
After two remarkable seasons, GT endured the challenge IPL 2024 campaign. With Hardik returning to Mumbai Indians before the season, Shubman took over as captain. The Titans struggled with inconsistency throughout the tournament and finished eighth in the standings. Injuries, lack of speed and inability to finish important plays played a big part in their disappointing season as they failed to make the playoffs for the first time.
IPL 2025: Eliminator
GT is back with a bang IPL 2025 and once again qualified for the playoffs by finishing third in the league stage. Led by a strong batting unit and consistent bowling performances, the Titans looked like genuine title contenders. However, their campaign ended in an eliminator against Mumbai Indians. Despite some strong performances throughout the season, GT could not overcome MI in the knockout clash and were eliminated before reaching Qualifier 2.
IPL 2026: Qualified for Playoffs
GT continued its impressive streak IPL 2026 once again securing a place in the playoffs. Under Shubman’s leadership, the Titans finished second in the league standings and remain one of the strongest contenders for the title this season. with a balanced line-up featuring experienced international stars like Jason Holder, If Buttler, Kagiso Rabada and exciting Indian talent GT will now aim to add a second IPL trophy to his cabinet and further strengthen his growing playoff legacy.
