Speaking in a video shared by RCB on social media, Karthik explained that momentum can often be the deciding factor in knockout matches. According to him, a strong finish in the league stage will give the team a psychological advantage to advance to Qualifier 1. Karthik admitted that he might be tempted to rest after sealing a place in the playoffs, but insisted that the current RCB set-up does not want to lose its competitive mentality.
“Look, I know we’ve qualified for the playoffs. We can take that for granted. But I think it’s as important for us as any other game, because if we win this game, we’ll be on our way into the first qualifiers.” Karthik said in a video released by RCB on X.
He praised Sunrisers Hyderabad for their performance this season and admitted that they are one of the strongest teams in the tournament. Karthik pointed out that SRH’s position near the top of the table reflects the quality of cricket they have played throughout the campaign.
“SRH are a solid team and that’s the reason why they are in the top three. They played some great cricket.” Karthik added.
The former India wicketkeeper also emphasized that RCB’s aim remains simple – continue to compete at the highest level and carry the winning momentum into the knockout stages. With a win over SRH, Bengaluru will officially enter the top two and gain the valuable advantage of playing in Qualifier 1.
“It’s two good teams going up against each other and we’re going to try to put our best foot forward. We’re going to do everything we can to compete and get over the line.” Karthik further added.

Star performers for RCB in IPL 2026
One of the biggest reasons behind RCB’s dominance this season has been their exceptional form Virat Kohli. The veteran batsman reinvented his T20 approach, combining aggression with consistency throughout the campaign. Kohli has already scored 542 runs in 13 matches at an average of over 54 while also scoring an impressive 164. His unbeaten century against Kolkata Knight Riders remains one of the standout knocks of IPL 2026 and once again cemented his status as one of the tournament’s most reliable performers.
Apart from Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal also had a memorable season. The stylish left-hander has thrived under head coach Andy Flower and provided explosive starts at the top. With over 400 runs and a strike rate of 173, Padikkal added considerable firepower to the batting line-up.
RCB’s success this season has not been limited to batting. Veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar led the bowling attack brilliantly and currently leads the side’s wicket chart with 24 scalps. His ability to create breakthroughs in both the power play and the death game has played a major role in RCB’s consistent performances.
