Ruturaj Gaikwad breaks silence on MS Dhoni’s future after CSK’s IPL 2026 exit

During the post-match interaction, CSK captain Gaikwa was asked the question on every Chennai fan’s mind – will Dhoni be back next season? Gaikwad even admitted that the team was uncertain about Dhoni’s plans and said clarity would only come closer to the next edition of the tournament.

“Obviously you’re going to get to know him next year. Even I’m going to get to know him next year. Obviously, it’s a tough, tough miss for us. He’s someone who can strike fear into the opposition, especially those late runs. He can really change the game, he can really change the momentum just by being in the crease.” Ruturaj said in the post-match chat.

The CSK skipper admitted how much the franchise missed Dhoni’s presence this season, especially in pressure situations during the last overs. According to Gaikwad, Dhoni’s mere presence at the crease creates panic in the opposition camp and can completely change the momentum of the game.

He also praised the young players for going forward despite the difficult circumstances and said that the experience gained during this difficult season could benefit the team in the future.

“So he’s somebody, we missed a lot this season. But I mean, we never know about next season, but obviously we’re very happy with the guys we have and we’re very happy with the experience they’ve had this year.” Ruturaj added.
