Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) kept their play-off hopes alive with a decisive four-wicket win Mumbai Indians (MI) In the 65th match Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at Eden Gardens. Chasing a target of 148, KKR put in a composed batting effort and managed just two crucial runs in 18.5 overs.
KKR bowlers restrict Mumbai Indians to 147
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a great start with the ball. Ryan Rickelton while he was dismissed for just six runs Rohit SharmaA promising innings was cut short after hitting two sixes for 15 runs. KKR’s bowling attack put up a disciplined performance throughout the innings. Green impressed against his old side with figures of 2/23 Saurabh Dubey he also took two goalkeepers. Karthik Tyagi chipped with a few scalps and Sunil Narine He once again demonstrated his control conceding just 13 runs in his four-over spell with one wicket. Rahane was in fine touch during his 21-run innings which included four boundaries. Experienced Manish Pandey then took over the chase. Batting with poise, Pandey scored a smooth 45 off 33 balls and kept the innings under control despite occasional wickets at the other end.
Rovman Powell played the perfect supporting role and stepped up at the right time for the hosts. He smashed 40 runs off 30 balls, hitting four boundaries and two sixes to put West Indies in a tight control over battered KKR.
Bosch tried to drag Mumbai Indians back into the contest with a brilliant three-goal spell, dismissing both Pandey and Powell. However, Rinku Singh’s quick cameo and quiet finishing touches Tejaswi Dahiya and Anukul Roy Kolkata crossed the finish line with seven balls to spare.
