Bangladeshi bowlers have taken control
Pakistan responded positively but failed to form a significant partnership. Babar Azam fought hard with a classy 68 but the wickets kept rolling at the other end. Bangladesh’s bowlers kept up the relentless pressure, with Nahid Rana emerging as the standout performer.
The young pacer played with pace and discipline, claiming 3/60 as Pakistan were bundled out for 232. Bangladesh secured a vital lead of 46 runs which proved to be the turning point in the match. As the game progressed, the pitch became easier to bat on and Bangladesh took full advantage of the improving conditions in their second innings.
Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton take Bangladesh to a big target
Bangladesh’s second innings is built on patience, discipline and smart shot selection. Mahmudul Hasan Sevinj provided a solid start with a valuable 52 at the top of the order before the veteran Mushfigur Rahim took full responsibility for the shooting.
Mushfiqur produced a masterclass in Test batting scoring a magnificent 137 under pressure. His ability to rotate the strike and punish loose deliveries has steadily eroded Pakistan’s confidence. Litton continued his dream with another crucial contribution of 69 down the order, ensuring that Bangladesh stretched their lead beyond Pakistan’s reach. Bangladesh eventually reached 390, setting Pakistan a mammoth target of 437. While Shahzad once again impressed with 4/86, Pakistan’s bowlers lacked support from the other end.
Muhammad Rizwa’s struggle is in vain
Pakistan’s chase got off to a bright start with Shan Masood scoring an innings 71. Mohammad Rizvan Later, while keeping Pakistan alive with a tenacious 94, Salman Agha He added another valuable 71 during a partnership of 134, which briefly raised hopes of an unexpected run. Rizvan and Sajid Khan late in the innings, the attacker adopted the approach, but the goal remained too steep.
