Henry McLuckie breaks the 39-year-old Meet record in the 3000m at The Belfast Classic 2026. Jeremiah Azu runs 200m PB.


BELFAST (GBR, May 9). Remarkable performances in cool and windy conditions at Belfast Classic (WACT Challenger) included four records. They included a PB and a World U20 qualifying standard for the European Under-20 Champion Charlotte Heinrich 51.24 win the women’s 400m. He moves into second on Wales’ all-time list. The men’s race was won by steeplechaser Sam Lunt (45.89 PB). Henry McLuckie won the men’s 3000m in 7:43.64, breaking Steve Ovett’s record from 1987. ahead of Ireland’s Calum Morgan (7:47.62 PB) and Jack O’Leary (7:48.50). Carmen Sernul set a Swedish under-20 record to win the women’s 3000m (8:56.98) from Belgium’s Lisa Rooms (8:58.99) and Elise Vanderelst (8:59.94). Ben Pattison (3:37.96 PB) and Melissa Courtney-Bryant (4:04.50) won the 1500m, while Sarah Calvert (2:01.90) and Henry Jonas (1:45.76) won the 800m, the latter of six men under 1:47. in sprints Jeremiah Azu, the 2025 World Indoor Champion over 60m, clocked 20.73 (nwi) in the 200m.
