Golf needs more Noah Kahan

Is Noah Kahan the best singer to play golf?

Definitely not (at least not yet), but he’s a fine songwriter with the perfect golfing personality. His authentic, raw storytelling fits the ups and downs that golf offers on a daily basis.

Kahan mentions track golf “Paid Vacation” on his new album “The Great Divide” and it’s only fair to note his involvement in the game of golf and his short but extensive history with YouTube Golf up until this point.

Kahan and YouTube Golf

Kahan has been featured on several YouTube channels, highlighted mainly by his time with GM Golf and Good Good.

Within the first three minutes GM Golf’s 18-hole video with Noah, you realize how naturally funny and authentic this guy really is. I could tell after he shot a line of “solid 90 from the whites with a few lies” that he would be fun to golf.

The top three YouTube Golf releases featuring Kahan have amassed approximately 3,170,000 views and counting.

These are not initial numbers; These are the highest levels for YouTube Golf. It even brought in additional viewers who were there for Kahan and not GM Golf (think ladies watch more NFL because of Taylor Swift). The game is growing and these kinds of collaborations make it grow the right way.

Involvement of TGL

In January 2025, TGL announced Kahan as an investor in the Boston Common Golf team.

Noah is from Vermont, so he’s certainly familiar with Boston sports teams. He is a devout Red Sox fan and has shown support for the Boston Celtics as well.

In November 2025, Kahan, Niall Horan and Good Good prepared him for a TGL-style showdown with Kahan having Brad Dalke and Garrett Clark as his teammates and Horan teaming with Matt Scharff and Walsh.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that TGL, the PGA Tour and other golf shops hope to grow the game of golf with Kahan and other celebrities as a major part of the engine.

Golf music

Music on the golf course is not for everyone. In fact, I avoid it most of the time because I want to focus on my round. Golf is already hard enough and the music tends to distract me.

Last week, I decided to mix things up, so instead of worrying about my score, I put on my AirPods, turned Kahan’s new album on almost full, and listened to it cover to cover twice during my nine-hole round.

Not to bore you too much, but I felt every bit of sunshine, admired every tree, laughed at every missed shot, and enjoyed golf in a way I normally can’t. Kahan makes music appropriate for anyone going through something right now and especially for those who have gone through something significant in the past. It was refreshing to enjoy the well conveyed text and play a stress free round of golf.

Do yourself and your game a favor. Meet Noah Kahan, musician and golfer.

If you are a Noah Kahan virgin, I would start with season of the stick, The Great Divide or his NPR Music-Tiny Desk Concert.
