Welcome to Fully eligible 2026GOLF’s new platform to provide you with real golfer insight into which 2026 equipment might be best for your game. To that end, we gathered six GOLF content creators of varying abilities and put them through the gauntlet of six full-bag rigs (from driver to bag!) at six major club manufacturers in Phoenix and Carlsbad, California. In this piece (below), Sean Zak details a club he can’t live without from Fully Fit 2026, the TaylorMade Spider Tour X. You can browse our panelists’ full dream bags for 2026 here:

I arrived in Carlsbad about a week full of equipment, tearing up my entire golf bag and offering me a new equipment rental. Little did I know that my favorite part of the entire week would come in the first few minutes.
Before doing any thorough testing, my first hour was spent in TaylorMade’s putting studio, spending a full 60 minutes analyzing my swing, my ex-player and working on me. TaylorMade club set. I quickly learned how much can be overlooked in the typical shooter’s decision. People meander into Dick’s Sporting Goods and roll a few different nail putts and make a choice on the spot. It’s all feeling. TaylorMade – like all manufacturers – doesn’t want you to do that. But not everyone gets the full tire fit treatment.
After going through a few 10-footers with my previous putter under super slow motion cameras, it was clear that I often take a very smooth and neutral path to the ball, but I have a tendency to leave the putter face open less and less. Occasionally, up to 3° open, which, with a 7-iron, may not be a big deal. From eight feet and with the match on the line, the open 3° can give you a 10 percent win rate.
How I ended up in one TaylorMade Spider Tour X
I was playing a wider version of a blade rig, mainly because I like the look and feel of what it offers. But when it came to my kick performance, the blade was difficult. On long shots, I tended to connect shots with long shots every now and then – again, no matter how little – which would result in my shots starting to the left of the target. For really long putts, this simply means that the ball is moving further and further away from the target the longer the throw.
But that’s where an assembler comes in. The genius staff at TaylorMade put a bunch of hammers in my hands that day and the squareness and size of the head closed the face a significant amount in my shot. Suddenly, my most “open” shots were 1.5° open. The rate of profit for these losses is bound to increase. But the important point was that most shots were now less than 1° open.

An added benefit of the larger head has appeared, in recent weeks, more than ever in an indoor studio. Those 30 and 40 feet, where I occasionally forcefully closed my face (and did a few small spins on shot after shot)—I had unconsciously lined up on the fingertip of the shooter’s head. This causes all kinds of lag issues, leaving so many hexapods in the level. No one wants that fight.
Thankfully, the larger head and weight of the hammer has made ball placement very easy and allows me to feel like my putter is a pendulum – the little white ball at the base of the shot just bounces and the putter does all the work. That kind of simplicity is something my short game has been looking for – and one that my results have definitely appreciated early this season.
