AS Roma thrashed Fiorentina 4-0 at the Stadio Olimpico to secure a commanding win that showcased their attacking prowess and defensive solidity.
Roma entered this Serie A clash in sixth place with 61 points from 34 games. Fiorentina came in 16th, struggling with just 37 points and desperate to move away from the relegation zone. The Giallorossi had won their last match, while the Viola arrived looking for consistency after a string of mixed results.
Roma struck early and decisively. Gianluca Mancini opened the scoring in the 13th minute, firing past the Fiorentina defense to set the tone. Just four minutes later, Wesley Franca doubled the lead in the 17th minute, giving the home side total control.
The locals have continued the assault on Fiorentina’s backline. Mario Hermoso added a third goal in the 34th minute, extending Roma’s lead to three. The Viola offered little resistance, their defensive shape collapsing under sustained pressure from the home attack.
Fiorentina struggled to create meaningful chances. Their goalkeeper made three saves to further limit the damage. Roma’s dominance was evident in possession, controlling 61 percent of the ball and dictating play for the first 45 minutes.
The second part promised more of the same. Roma had already established complete control, and Fiorentina faced an uphill battle to regain their pride. The visitors needed to regroup tactically and find some offensive inspiration.
Niccolò Pisilli sealed the rout in the 58th minute with Roma’s fourth goal. The midfielder’s finish capped off an extensive display from the home side. At this point, the game was effectively decided, with Fiorentina unable to mount a comeback.
Rome’s defense has remained resolute throughout. Hermoso received a yellow card in the 48th minute but kept his concentration. The hosts managed fouls and discipline well, limiting Fiorentina’s opportunities to exploit set pieces.
Fiorentina’s afternoon deteriorated further as the match progressed. Midfielder Fabiano Parisi was shown a yellow card in the 66th minute. The Viola’s expected goals figure of just 0.12 reflected their toothless attacking display against superior opposition.
Roma’s statistics underlined their dominance. They recorded 14 shots in total with seven on goal. The Giallorossi completed 598 passes with 91 percent accuracy, showing their control and quality. Pisilli earned a match rating of 8.6 for his influential performance, while Wesley and Manu Koné also impressed with ratings of 8.5 and 8.0 respectively.
This demolition makes Roma go up the table with 64 points from 35 games. Fiorentina remain in 16th place, their struggles continuing despite flashes of promise earlier in the season. The gap between these sides proved insurmountable with this evidence.
