Moto2 star Daniel Holgado has agreed with Independent Media that many Spanish riders in MotoGP are ‘not good’ on the grid despite being Spanish himself.

When asked if he was concerned about this shift in thinking from independence, Holgado said. Motorsport Spain: “In the end it’s normal, I understand the championship a little bit, because we are in the world championship and I understand why they want riders of different nationalities.”
“Finally, I don’t think there are 10 Spaniards and 5 or 6 Italians in MotoGP. I don’t think it’s good at the international level to have so many riders only from those nationalities.
“It’s true that all this is due to a lot of hard work done at the bottom level. It doesn’t happen by magic, it’s not because the Spaniards are better, it’s just like that, it comes from the work we’ve been doing since we were kids.
“A lot of rotations, a lot of races, a lot of work, with parents, promotion cups, like George has done now, to help young talents, it’s all about the work done at the grassroots level.
But I understand MotoGP’s desire to find new talent from different nationalities because they have to expand their market, and that’s something I understand. But for the Spaniards, for example, it can be a bit complicated. But it’s not something I think too much about.
“The reality is, I follow my own path, I give 100%, I give everything, and in the end, if teams see something in you, I think it’s for a reason, whether you’re Spanish, Italian or of any other nationality.
