Don Charles didn’t hold back when asked about an alleged comment from Fabio Wardley, calling it “out of order” and demanding a withdrawal ahead of his fighter’s upcoming fight.

The trainer, who works with Daniel Dubois, was responding to an allegation that Wardley suggested Dubois would be “a bin man” if he wasn’t a boxer. Charles said the comment caught him off guard and crossed a line.
“It’s quite shocking for me, I’m surprised to come from Fabio,” said Charles. “A bin man? Because you make a lot of money, and bin men do. It will do all kinds of work to put food on the table for our families,” Charles told Queensberry.
Charles defended working-class jobs, saying the comparison reflected poorly on Wardley rather than Dubois.
“So I think it’s an insult to the garbage man for him to refer to (Dubois that way),” he said. “I mean, it’s something that’s quite condescending. I don’t think you suddenly feel privileged because you’re a world champion. You need to retract that statement. Because bang out of order.”
The comments add tension to a fight that already carried stylistic intrigue, with Wardley stepping in as a pressure fighter who openly targeted an early strike, while Dubois still deals with questions about his durability in tough moments.
No clear clip or transcript of Wardley making the “bin man” comment has circulated alongside Charles’ response, leaving the exchange largely grounded in the coach’s account.
Yet the reaction itself now becomes part of the build, and it gives combat a sharper edge than it had before.
