I want more power and check for your pace? Do what I call a “centered” twist, something you can learn quickly with this easy drill.
Stand in front of a mirror at home without a stick. Use a dry erase pen to draw a straight vertical line on the mirror. While standing, position your body so that when you look in the mirror, the line you drew goes straight from your shirt buttons to your belt buckle.

Now, lean forward on your side with your upper body and touch your front knee with your hand on the target side, letting your pelvis “bump” slightly away from the target (1). Then fold your arms across your chest (2). Roll back (3) and finally extend your arms as if you are at the top of the backbend (4). The trick is to do all of this without the center of your body moving from the line to the mirror. A good thing to think about when doing this exercise: whichever way your shirt buttons go, your belt buckle moves in the opposite direction.
Hall of Fame instructor Jack Grout knew the importance of a focused backswing decades ago, so much so that he would often grab a young Jack Nicklaus’ hair to keep him from moving off the line. (The story goes that Nicklaus took a crew cut so Grout couldn’t do it again.) It’s an easy workout that pays big dividends.
