Borussia Dortmund demolished SC Freiburg 4-0 at Signal Iduna Park, with Ramy Bensebaini’s dominant display and early goals setting the tone for a comprehensive victory.
Dortmund went into the match as second-placed contenders looking to keep the pressure on in the title race. Freiburg reached eighth position, hoping to achieve European football qualification. The visitors had won their last two games but faced a tough test against a resurgent home side.
Dortmund struck with devastating efficiency in the early stages. Maximilian Beier fired past the Freiburg goalkeeper in the eighth minute to give the home side an early lead. The breakthrough sparked an immediate boost at Signal Iduna Park.
Just six minutes later, Serhou Guirassy doubled the lead in the 14th minute. Two goals in quick succession left Freiburg reeling and struggling to find their rhythm. Dortmund controlled possession with 61 percent possession and pressed relentlessly.
Bensebaini extended the score in the 31st minute with a well-taken third goal. The left-back’s contribution highlighted Dortmund’s attacking threat from all areas of the pitch. Freiburg offered little resistance as the home side dominated the first half.
The second half saw Dortmund maintain control of proceedings. Freiburg created few meaningful chances despite 39 percent possession. Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel kept his cool and made four saves to keep the clean sheet.
Freiburg managed four shots on goal throughout the game, but were unable to break down Dortmund’s solid defence. The visitors completed 281 successful passes but lacked the edge needed to trouble the scoreline. His expected goals total of 0.74 reflects his limited opportunities.
Dortmund added a fourth goal in the 87th minute when Filippo Silva found the net. The late strike capped off a commanding performance and underlined the gulf between the two sides. Jude Bellingham was booked in the 65th minute, but Dortmund otherwise avoided disciplinary trouble.
Statistically, Dortmund’s superiority was clear. They registered a total of 17 shots with five on goal. Their expected goals figure of 3.59 exceeded the four goals scored, suggesting they could have won by an even bigger margin.
Bensebaini was rated 9.2 for his outstanding performance, combining defensive solidity with attacking talent. Beier contributed one goal and received an 8.2 rating. Kobel’s shutout and four saves earned an 8.0 rating despite minimal action.
The win takes Dortmund to 64 points with one game remaining in their campaign. They hold second place in the Bundesliga standings. Freiburg remains eighth with 43 points and faces a tough battle for European qualification.
