Jared Anderson out of May 9 fight after torn bicep

Jared Anderson’s rebuild hit another stop before it could even pick up speed

Ring Magazine reports that Anderson pulled out of his May 9 fight with Solomon Dacres after suffering a torn biceps. The 10-round heavyweight bout was scheduled for the Fabio Wardley vs. Daniel Dubois undercard at Co-op Live Arena in Manchester.

Anderson (18-1, 15 KOs) was looking to take another step back after his 2024 knockout loss to Martin Bakole. Instead, the 26-year-old now has another delay at a bad time in his career.

The Dacres battle was not a world-class test, but it had value. Anderson needed rounds, activity and a steady win on a big heavyweight card. That’s gone now, and the injury gives critics more room to question where his career is headed.

Reaction from boxing fans has been rough, with several responses pointing to Anderson’s injury history and durability. Some questioned whether his body could hold heavy weight. Others have suggested he might consider cruiserweight if the physical issues persist.

It can be harsh, but it’s the kind of setback that changes the way a prospect is viewed. Anderson still has talent, but he’s no longer talked about like a clean future heavyweight star. He is now trying to prove he can stay active long enough to rebuild.

The move to join Queensberry and fight in the UK seemed like a desperate attempt to find a new environment to restore his confidence. But this bicep injury is a disaster as it adds another year of rust to an already fragile psyche. You can’t rebuild confidence in the gym.

The biceps tear effectively puts Jared Anderson’s career on hiatus until late 2026. Recovery from surgery of this nature usually takes six to nine months before a fighter can even think about throwing full power shots with that arm.
